A CLUE FOR YOU –––– I think as Daphne was launching her first collection for Dame Cosmetics, a dual skincare + basics cosmetics line titled “Just Like Other Girls” she was recieving a lot of pressure to have it have a traditionally feminine aesthetic by the people who were helping her run DC. She was new to the business, and while she knew exactly what kind of look and vibe she wanted, as well as sustaining visibility and inclusivity, Daphne let them go ahead with their planned shoot launch. However, after a trans model approached her, trying to convince her to change her mind, Daphne’s regret boiled over. She remembered that this was her company, and that she shouldn’t have let her doubt and fears of flopping get in the way.

But before she could change the shoot, and rehire the models, some photos were leaked, and public opinion took a dip. Daphne took to explaining the behind the scenes situation and revealed the noninclusive line up and her part ( or lack-thereof ) in it. Obviously, people weren’t all sold. To this day, some people haven’t changed their opinion of the company, while others strongly support it.

But Daphne took it as a learning lesson to always follow her gut, because ultimately, she knows best.
